Out buildings such as casitas, garages, RV garages, and the like are structures that need to be integrated with your existing structures. Much like additions or remodels you don't want them to have the appearance of just being added to your property. They should "belong" as a complement or similar type of structure.
Together, anything is possible.
Casitas
Casitas are very popular. They are another 2nd dwelling unit on the same property. They can be attached or separate from the primary dwelling. If they are detached they usually are under 1000 sq feet and have to follow guidelines are where they can be positioned and size of the living space.
Accessory Buildings
Accessory Buildings are similar to the existing house. Not like Casitas which have a kitchen, these buildings usually are pool houses, workshops, craft/hobby areas, etc. While garages are classified as accessory buildings these buildings fit a very specific purpose other than vehicle storage.
